obviously judah wasn’t supposed to take assyria up on that…by the end of the next chapter God saved them miraculously without any horses or riders. some trust in chariots & some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. God doesn’t want rich men boasting in their riches or wise men boasting in their wisdom or mighty men boasting in their strength. God didn’t call us because we were mighty or wise or noble, he called us when we were weak and despised.

but at the same time, out of that place of despised weakness…he aims to totally eclipse the glory of man.

zechariah 9.9 Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

luke 19.32-35 So those who were sent went their way and found it just as He had said to them. But as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, “Why are you loosing the colt?” And they said, “The Lord has need of him.” Then they brought him to Jesus. And they threw their own clothes on the colt, and they set Jesus on him.
