So great, Glen. I haven’t heard it in forever…I’m thinking it’s off one of the 7″s, no? I’d love to verify, but mine table’s been on the fritz for a fortnight or more.

haa total headscratcher. i looked at the titles on the 7″ & didn’t recognize it. i remember damian jurado loving that song…i should ask him >>

I couldn’t let this one go. I had to first find the parts, order and wait, fix my turntable and then go through all the Soul-Junk’s 7″s, but what an awesome experience it was! Totally worth the effort and what a reward – so many great songs I hadn’t heard in so long. I first thought it might’ve been on the Trumans “First Dead Man of Diluvia” split, but no, It’s “Numchucks Over” off of “1947″ – of which I have a silver cover (I bought) and a gold cover version that Ron mailed me in ’95 after my sending a particularly sappy letter. Here I go again…

Glen, I only hope that you’re someday able to look back over all this amazing work you’ve created, all this heart and spirit you’ve poured out, and realize how incredible it all is – and what is has meant to all of us – those who knew you before, those listening now and the future generations (and even your own children!) who will sooner or later appreciate the tremendous value of your expression and the vision Abba has placed in your ever-expanding heart. I say all that because I imagine it may be difficult to objectively view what Soul-Junk is from where you stand. From where I stand, it’s nothing short of incredible. If you should ever wonder if your voice is heard, know with all assurance that it is – both here and above. And if you should ever rest, don’t let it be for long. Thank you, Sir.

thanks luke – you’re soo right that God’s word never returns to him void. so filling our hearts and mouths with it is the best investment available on the planet. i thank God that he got me going on that before i even understood a fraction of what it meant. being able to connect squarely with the anointing on something that God made real to me 10 or 14 or even 17 years ago is such an incredible reward. believe me it makes me want to dive even harder in 2011.

thanks for tracking down ‘numchucks’! i don’t even think i have a copy. if you ever want to send me mp3s of those songs i would do backflips >>

Brother, I want to and would be honored – no flip necessary. Lemme get my rig going and I’ll send you a link.

Ok Glen, headed your way. Prepare to relive the magic. Incidentally, 1947 is also the source of the sample in the first track up there, Stay Liquid.
