it’s how i like to listen to stuff…short attention span…lotsa instrumental parts less lyrical baggage…i think i realized a while ago i listened to whole albums to get to certain parts so now i just put all the parts together…>>
Yeah, I often write really short songs, thinking that someday I’ll go back and write the rest, but I never do. Then I think, why bother, if I like the short part, I’ll just listen to it I guess.
So is none of that music in that recording your own?
oh no…in almost all cases on stuff labeled TAPE JUNK, it’s not me. this time i got tricky & called it a “mixed ape,” meaning “mix tape.” but it is just a very fragmented mix tape.
i’ve thought about putting track lists up too, but honestly i’m pulling from old mis-labeled tapes & online radio & all sorts of sources where it’d be a huge hassle & i’d get it wrong half the time. i just started doing these cuz i got sick of looking at all my crates of vinyl & boxes of CDs & cassettes, & knowing i was only really listening to about 2% of the music i had. this way i know it’s the 2% i care about >>
This is so fun. What kind of equipment do you use to make this? Is it edited or is this a live recording?
ahh glad you like them…it’s pretty simple edits. just all the bits & pieces of songs i like cut/pasted together >>
Why do you make things like this?

That is actually a really good idea! If you’ve got the equipment to do it anyway.
