allow God to saturate you with his love deeper than you’ve ever experienced before. everything that takes place in the realms of the Spirit, in the realms of the Kingdom of God…takes place immersed in the love of God >>
How?
the simplest answer is: ask. so many times we are focused on motion and expectation and performance, where God just wants us to ask to receive his love at a deeper level.
“ask and you shall receive” was spoken in context to God pouring out the Holy Spirit on those who ask him (luke 11.9-12). we’ve been duped into believing that the gift/outpouring Holy Spirit is a one-time intangible event, whereas God clearly tells us to live continually being filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5.18, the greek verb tense is literally “be being filled”), to DRINK of one Spirit.
romans 5.5 tells us the love of God is poured into our hearts, by the Holy Spirit who he has given us. the first fruit of the Spirit is love, and this is how to live out of the supply of the Spirit!
let me take your question “how?” as a simple request to God that he fill you to overflowing with his love right now. you want this more than anything, right? well in Jesus’ name relax and receive it – this is exactly what Father wanted you to ask him for >>
Something I have never quite understood is, when we talk about receiving God’s love, are we talking about a feeling? How would I know if I had received it? Is it something I just have to take by faith even though I may experience nothing? I’ve been following Jesus for about 14 years and I can honestly say I’ve never “felt” God’s love. I’ve seen him move in my life, I hear his voice, I know he is at work in me. But I want to feel what he feels for me.
There’s definitely more available. Do you believe God wants to connect with you emotionally?
I’ve never come across scripture that really confirmed to me that he wants to do this.
Psalm 31 definitely shows me that he thinks about me, but I don’t know what those thoughts are. I guess the answer to this question is I don’t know.
psalm 139 is great too. so is jeremiah 31.3 and so is 1 john 4 and so is john 13-17…
i was in line at the xray machine at the airport and this lady was going thru my all my stuff and found my bible. she kinda halfway looked up and said “somebody snuck a loveletter into your backpack..” totally caught me by surprise!
that’s really the heart of it. when God wrapped up all of the Law and its blessings/curses, he summarizes it by saying “Look – I really just want you to love me” (deuteronomy 30.20)…absolutely amazing. the God of all heaven and earth wants you to love Him. he wants you to know and believe the love he has for you. it goes so deep, and there’s really no end to finding out the depth. but at the same time it’s so simple – you got the ring, you said your vows…now go on the honeymoon >>
