real encouragement
Acts 13.15 And after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Men and brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.”
There is so much strengthening power available in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit. The greek word ‘paraklesis’, translated “exhortation, encouragement, admonition, calling near, comfort, entreaty” (for starters..) is what the synagogue rulers were asking Paul and Barnabas and John Mark for - because they needed it so badly, and because they sensed the Holy Spirit all over these men to deliver it!
The gospel is the infusion of life, of spiritual and literal resurrection from the dead. It is Christ himself. He is hope against all hopelessness; power in the place of purposeless existence; forgiveness beyond all condemnation; courage in the face of paralyzing fear and disappointment. This isn’t limited to a one-time theoretical exchange for praying the sinner’s prayer…this is uncontainable continuous ongoing overwhelming life in the Spirit. Experience without a single doubt or reservation or inhibition >>
