greatest is
1 Corinthians 13.13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
Every single one of the functions of the Holy Spirit, every activity the builds up the church and advances the kingdom, is incredibly valuable to me. There’s nothing God does that doesn’t fascinate me, nothing he’s placed in his church that I can do without.
Yet God himself is found in love. The kingdom of God is not about activities or talents or titles. The kingdom of God is found in God himself. Every one of the functions of the Holy Spirit spring out of love, and out of God’s consecration to never act outside of love. It is the love of God (specifically the blood of Jesus) that totally cancels sin and breaks its chains off people. It is the love of God that heals the sick, drives out devils, binds up the brokenhearted, gives sight to the blind…and life to the dead.
As we chase after the kingdom of God and the fullness of God with everything in us, there is one thing that binds us together; one thing that presides over and coordinates everything God is doing through our individual lives – it is the love of God.
God wants us to prophesy; he even tells us to covet that gift. He commands us to pray constantly in the Holy Ghost, building ourselves up in our most holy faith. He dares us to give way beyond our means, putting the needs of his kingdom first and fully trusting him to supply more than enough for our own needs. Yet ultimately the love of God will measure everything we do in this life. Ultimately the love of God will rule and define the eternal kingdom of God.
Right now it is so crucial that we learn to be clothed in humility and walk in divine love. Father has made it absolutely clear that there is no greater accomplishment possible for us than to put all we possess and all we are on love, and let it ride >>
amen!
