the talents in this scripture is used like “money” did you want to know what Jesus was really saying? He was using this parable so that we might get a better understanding something that means a lot to us “money” each man in this parable did something different with it and had a different relationship with their master and the results is what they actually did with the “talents” or “money”….
i have been meditating on this scripture since I wrote the above… the revelation in this scripture has so much to say…. i was meditating on the different amounts that each one was given and how they each reacted to their master… 1. Obedience is a big factor here. 2. Love is also a big factor here. 3. The treasure or gift that each one was given 4. How they treated that gift and what they did with it. 5. And again the relationship with their master. 6. How the master reacted to His servants each one had a different reward. I am still meditating on it….
i have heard the money side, the talent side, as in our own individual talents. but i’ve also heard that the most important, “talent” is the gospel. and that obviously we shouldn’t be afraid of our MASTER and bury the Good News. but to go out and invest/work with what the FATHER has given us, whether it is money, talents or the Gospel. (or all)
for what-ever reason, growing up hearing this i seem to focus on the wicked servant and hope and pray that i am not like him, but more times than not, i am, i hide what GOD has given me (talents the Gospel).
so reading this today and getting LOVE out of it, has begun to open a new perspective to me. i’m not sure i’ve really looked at it that way. so huge thanks again and great discussion.
GOD speed!

Romans 12.3b God has dealt to each one a measure of FAITH.
1 Peter 1.7 That the genuineness of your FAITH, being much more precious than GOLD that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3.12-14 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.
Galatians 5.6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but FAITH working through LOVE.
Could the parable of the talents be about the measure of faith God has dealt to every man?
The first 2 servants were happy to invest their master’s money. They were eager to see Him on His returning to them. These 2 servants were no doubt sold out faithful to their master and in modern english “born from above” sons of God. They had a good relationship with their master and it is evident that they loved him and respected
him. There reward was an increase of responsiblity in the Kingdom of God… Now the 3rd servant had a completely different view of his master. Its says he was “afraid” and then he goes on to say and point out about his masters character and shady business dealings….. He had a completely distorted view of him…. for some reason…… He hid the money and just gave it back to him. The “love ” was not there the relationship between them must have been injured at some point. Or maybe never really developed. He lost what he had and it was taken away and given to the one that had 10. Not only that but he was cast into outer darkness that means he did not enter in the Kingdom of God. So this person was obviously someone that had been given the chance of hearing the word but did not take it and do something with it. He kept it in himself. Like Joshua that wrote I don’t want to be like the 3rd servant!
“…but FAITH working through LOVE.
Could the parable of the talents be about the measure of faith God has dealt to every man?”
hmmmmm, wow!
i really like this interpretation, it feels as if we (mostly me) are digging with baby teaspoons, to unearth this amazingly huge and invaluable treasure.
huuuuuge thanks!!!
–LORD help me apply it, do it and love it and honor YOU through it!!!

So the LORD said to [Moses], “What is that in your hand?”
He said, “A rod.”…
…you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs.
-
talent = whatever object is in your hand, whatever seed is in your heart

“Love is a big factor.” That’s something not everybody sees in the parable of the talents. Say more on that..
