our conversation is in heaven
Philippians 3.20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The KJV translates the greek “politeuma” (which only shows up once in the new testament) as “conversation.” Politeuma refers to citizenship, commonwealth, government and the administration of its affairs - and most modern translations choose “citizenship.”
But stick with “conversation” just one second, even though the word clearly means something different to us today than it did 500 years ago. The government of heaven is the focus here. We’re not just talking about being card-carrying citizens - we’re talking about “on earth as it is in heaven” - we’re talking about the actual administration of the kingdom of heaven now.
And in a very real way, that is all about a conversation…yes?
a hearty yes and amen! to all that you wrote and to all that is in the FATHER’s Heart toward us!
thanks for all the provocative thoughts and ideas, and massive amounts of creativity you display, this has kinda become a virtual devotional of sorts and i thank GOD for you!
I want to have a conversation, but I keep thinking for now I just need to silently listen.
Psalm 131
1 My heart is not proud, O LORD,
my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
or things too wonderful for me.
2 But I have stilled and quieted my soul;
like a weaned child with its mother,
like a weaned child is my soul within me.
3 O Israel, put your hope in the LORD
both now and forevermore.
