These works...and greater. That is exactly it. Same character - greater manifestation!

The Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil. This is very specifically detailed in <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew 4.23-24;&version=50;"target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Matthew 4</a>, <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=luke 4.18-19;&version=50;"target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Luke 4</a>, <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=luke 9.1-2;&version=50;"target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Luke 9</a>, <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=luke 10.17-20;&version=50;"target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Luke 10</a>, <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew 10.1;&version=50;"target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Matthew 10</a>, <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew 11.4-5;&version=50;"target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Matthew 11</a>, and <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=mark 16.17-20;&version=50;"target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">Mark 16</a>; among many many others.

Jesus points us to an <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=ephesians 3.16-21;&version=50;"target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">ever-increasing display</a> of this exact program. It's uncanny how consistent the New Testament is at describing what works go with the gospel of the Kingdom! Could Father be asking us to have faith personally for <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=hebrews 2.1-4;&version=50;"target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">these works and greater</a> to be seen in the earth today?

I've heard it said by more than one person that "greater" here just means that because there was only one Jesus, and now there are many more believers; "greater" works just means MORE works, and so it's already been fulfilled. But every other time Jesus uses meizon he's talking SUPERIOR. We know it's not just about a greater volume or quantity because the first part of his compound sentence tells us to expect the same works that I do. But what could the greater be? Does it have to do with Father holding back the latter rain waiting for his precious fruit? Its interesting how he says.. and greater than these because I go unto my Father. and then a little bit later.. If you loved me you would rejoice because I said, I go unto the Father, because the Father is greater than me. Is there there a clue to what these greater works could be anywhere in scripture or could Father want us to find out along with the rest of the world like how it happpened in Acts 2?

Absolutely. Jesus lived in the realm of the spiritual, the realm of the kingdom of God. He so badly wanted those closest to him to live by faith just as he was living by faith. Faith calls things into existence, faith subdues things, faith is unshakably certain that the purposes of God will be spoken and accomplished.

Jesus actually expected his disciples to realize that they had full mastery over all the realms of the physical and over all the power of the enemy. When they forgot to bring bread for a journey, he expected them to know it was a non-issue; they would be supernaturally taken care of. He expected them to be able to command the winds and waves to calm down so they wouldn't have to wake him up to do the job. He fully expected them to be able to drive the demon out of the suicidal boy possessed with a deaf and dumb spirit.

Melani, you ask an incredibly valuable question. And in answering it I'm not even touching the greater works. I'm just describing the works seen in Jesus' life that he desperately desires and expects to be seen in his people's lives.

To get this literal is such a threatening idea to so many people, but what if we realized it really doesn't call for anything from us besides simple faith and childlike cooperation? What if for right now we could catch a glimpse of what it could look like if we really let the Spirit take God's picture of us and superimpose it on our lives?

Mark 6:35-37
"By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. "This is a remote place," they said, "and it's already very late. Send the people away so they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat."

But he answered, "You give them something to eat."
They said to him, "That would take eight months of a man's wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?"

Do you think Jesus wanted the disciples to feed the five thousand right then, even before he went to the Father?
