Be clear though - nobody got called righteous while lying, being drunk, or being an adulterer or a playboy. Noah preached righteousness while he built the ark in the middle of a world gone mad with sin; he obviously backslid temporarily later in life. Sarah was Abraham's sister - it's clear that he should have told everyone she was also his wife, but God was so impressed with the risk Abraham was taking already that he rescued both Abraham and Sarah in 2 separate situations. David's righteousness was a result of of his being forgiven for adultery and murder, not in spite of those sins. And Solomon - wow. There are some indications that he did repent, but there are a few indications that he died in sin deceived by his idolatrous wives. How sad that that's even a possibility considering all he was given in God. Alright, so righteousness and faith. Bullseye. How does faith take hold of righteousness?
