Good point! That's exactly why we don't love even our children with human love. There is a higher realm available to us - we are called to love others just as Christ loved us. The love of Christ is so far above what man can work up - only the Holy Spirit can produce divine love in our lives. Trying to love someone is really just obligation, letting the love of God overwhelm us and flow out of us is inspiration >>

Keep in mind Jesus was speaking to people under the law here, before his once-and-for-all sacrifice. Those redeemed by Jesus blood are not "being evil," and we now have all the wisdom and resources of heaven to parent our children exactly as God would parent.

What I hear you saying loud and clear is that Father's love is to so saturate our lives that it spills over and transforms all our relationships, especially our kids.

I want to ask this: Father won't ever allow himself to relate to me outside of his passion, his everlasting love - why should I ever allow myself to try to relate to him outside of that passion and that love?

awesome...

i have a son, and i always let him know i love him as he is, without reservation... and i hope it's that love (imperfect as it is) that will allow him to be fully himself, and be free... and if i as an imperfect being can give that, what more with God!

"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"

"If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed..."
