The natural mind is always looking to find grounds for divorce and unfaithfulness. The natural mind is restless, and it loves change for the sake of change; its ways are movable and ignorant. God, on the other hand, speaks a thing and will not move from his word. His word is forever settled in heaven, it is forever the place of reconciliation and communion.

Father is light, and he remains in the light. There is no shadow of turning with him. He is not like the restless waves which foam up their shame. His thoughts are not subject to the tides of popular opinion or the zigzagging trickery of men. When he calls a thing forth, it will come to pass. When he gives a gift, he doesn’t pull it back.

The Spirit of the Living God is given to the church as our one Spirit. The mind of Christ is given to us as our one mind. And the oracles and proclamations of God are given to us as our one mouth. God is not a man that he should change his mind; so what he has joined, let no man put asunder. There can be no pluralism in our understanding, no “agreement to disagree;” our agreement must purely be to agree.

When Father makes a way and man refuses to enter by it, Father’s plan will remain there; bringing man back around to the exact same place and calling him in again. Father doesn’t change his plans and revoke his callings and retract his gifts because man doesn’t judge them as reasonable or practical or achievable. He doesn’t scurry around looking for something that might work better.

He is patient, he is gentle, he is compassionate; he is full of lovingkindness and tender mercies. Father won’t strive or contend with man forever, for then man’s spirit would fail before him. He lives in a high and lofty place, but also with him who is contrite. Father will always give grace to the humble. He will always look to the man who is broken and who trembles at his word.
