Where else in this life can you find an absolute guarantee of never being disappointed?
There is a undeniable witness that you will never find disappointment in God. You can run after God with everything in you and never once be let down.
At the same time, you have a clear witness that everything you chase after outside of God ultimately ends in disappointment. The good news is that if you’re living with any degree of disappointment, there is a way out directly in front of you >>
Disappointment in God can come if you have a faulty image of who God is. Unrealistic expectations of what God is “supposed” to do can bring much disappointment, too. I think that’s why we need to continually read God’s Word. Praying doesn’t hurt either.
God actually promises you will never find disappointment in him.
I guarantee he can get anyone past having a faulty image of him - he loves to reveal himself, and he loves opening doors to ever-increasing depth of relationship.
And as much sense it may make to us to not be “unrealistic” with our expectations in God, you will never once find him warning you about that. In fact, you will find the exact opposite. The only limiting factor is how far you’re willing to go with him in faith.
What if we determined in the Spirit that we would agree with God on this, no matter what circumstances we found ourselves in? What if we stepped into a walk with God where devastating news and abrasive people and bad situations were only there to test and perfect our faith so that we could go even farther with God in faith?
Glen, you’re right…God is so Good, and there is not one possibility of being let down or disappointed in Him. Thanks for bringing this back into remembrance!!
