You're right, Glene, I'm down with the church being the same. My initial reaction was the idea of having to be like people at church, not the church.

I've been thinking over these years (I was 19 when I was saved, 27 now, and had a solid first year or two of being really close to God) all this time I've felt like God stopped talking to me except on rare occasions. I was just realizing yesterday that I used to pray all day long. Then I would come home from work and get on my knees and pray. And I remember thinking that my prayers didn't sound like me, they sounded better than me. I was praying in the Holy Spirit without trying, I was just praying. So I realized that God is probably responding to me with the same percentage He did before, but it's lower now because I don't pray as much. Indeed, I will be doing the things I did at first.

Well, giving everything away, being of one heart & one soul, having all things in common - sounds a lot like <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=acts%4.32-35;&version=9;" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">the church</a> to me.

Melanie, you describe your new christian experience like a honeymoon.. There's no question we're supposed to live as <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=revelation 2.3-5;&version=31;" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">the first church of the honeymoon</a>! Could it be that perfect doctrine, selfless giving, & lasting real connection could all just be a simple matter of being in love?

Yeah, I gave all of my CDs and a lot of my books at the time to the thrift store, which I've heard isn't totally uncommon for new Christians.

Definitely all harmony...no monotony.

What I was referring to was <a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1corinthians 1.10;&version=9;" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" rel="nofollow">1 Corinthians 1.10</a>.

But you're really onto something with taking God that seriously! I love that about not understanding why anybody would own 2 coats..

Okay, that makes sense. Everyone agreeing on what's right and in God's will. When I first became Christian I hadn't ever been at all close to belonging to a religion. When I started going to church and reading the Bible, I didn't understand why anyone would own two coats. I didn't understand why everyone in church wasn't equally friendly. I took God so seriously in the beginning and didn't find anyone else that did. Now I'm less compassionate and less spirit led when it comes to dealing with other people because I don't expect anything from them.

I think it's more of getting to a place where no one is mislead. If everyone understands God's will, then we are free to live our diverse life's without anything getting in the way. Discussions, unbelief, misunderstandings etc.

I must not be understanding because I think that sounds nuts. All of us speaking the same? What's the point of God making the earth so diverse and all of our lives so different, even if money, health, general community lifestyle, etc. are pretty much the same, if we're all going to speak the same? Even in one family that has two children, those children see the same situations totally differently. Even with the billions on earth everyone is different. I don't see why you expect anything different. Even Holy Spirit led, it would be insanly boring. But like I said, I might not be understanding what you're getting at.

I have been wondering about that a LOT! Why aren't we there now, when there are so many people led by The Holy Ghost daily? Why is it that there are so many different ideas among men, that apparently, know The Holy Ghost?

Reminds me about a talk we had. What if we came to a place where we wouldn't do anything without the guidance of The Holy Ghost. We would be so complete in need of him, that our relationship would constantly grow.

We are going trough Hebrews at school right now, and it seems that the writer puts forth two distinct life "routs" . One is to constantly grow in your relationship with Christ, the other leads to hell. Radical.
