This is a question we can and should ask ourselves constantly. It’s an open-ended question, and Jesus asked it over and over again from so many different angles.
What is the kingdom of God like? To what should we compare it?
Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 12.1 that we are to “earnestly desire the spiritual.” (the word “gifts” doesn’t exist in the original Greek). 1 Corinthians 2 really does an amazing job of describing the realm of the kingdom of God, the realm of the spiritual.
God led his covenant people Israel out into a scorched desert with no human hope of survival in order to teach them to live in this realm. Jesus latched onto this early on as the Spirit led him out into the desert to be tempted by the devil.
It is more vitally true today than ever before that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. This is the realm where faith frames the ages, where all things exist by the spoken word of God, where we listen captivated by the voice of our Shepherd…this realm where we live in expectation of the constantly increasing revelation of the rule the reign the unquenchable love of God in this earth…this place where we exist for “Lord, just speak the word, and……”
