first love

If everything in Jesus flows out of relationship with him; then how do you have a living, dynamic, ongoing relationship with Jesus?
If everything in Jesus flows out of relationship with him; then how do you have a living, dynamic, ongoing relationship with Jesus?
The night before he was crucified, Jesus said “No man has greater love than this - that he lay down his life for his friends.” About 56 years later, John wrote “In this is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and gave his Son…”
This supreme love of God is the high-water mark from which all relationship flows. No man will ever accomplish more for God than what Jesus accomplished hanging ripped up and suffocating on the cross, praying that Father forgive the same people that put him there. This is your first love.
This is the place you’ll always find God. He says “Abide in me, and I in you.” He says “Dwell in my love.” Where did you first find Jesus? Where did he first find you? It’s possible to stay right there.
We get big ideas about what we’re going to do and be. God took his own Son, offered him up for people who hated him, opened up his side and created you and me. Why not stay plugged in right at that point?
