That spirit of the Son is a huge part of what Jesus is speaking about when he says “Come to me all you who labor and are heavy-laden…for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

The Son doesn’t do anything by himself or for himself. Everything comes from the Father. What that really means is that the Father performs the work. Every son of God who accepts this yoke remains in perfect rest while the Father does all the work through them. They move, they speak - but the actions and the words are verifiably all God’s. The person speaking and acting can’t take any of the credit, nor do they need to take any of the criticism.

I’ve had this discussion with people who really love God, and who want this put into terms anybody can understand. In the simplest of terms, it’s all about mimicking Jesus. If you truly know and love him and understand that he wants you to accept his identity - start speaking it out that you only do what you see the Father do. Start telling people that you only say what you hear the Father say. Don’t allow yourself any wiggle room to make-believe the thing. It will be totally obvious to everyone that hears you and sees you whether you are telling the truth or not.

And it will suddenly be very obvious to you how deeply you need to be able to watch Father and hear what he speaks.
