changed my tune

03Feb07

Some of you may have noticed that the focus of Soul-Junk is different these days. I mean spiritually more than musically, but I’m sure it translates musically.

~I like it! Of course, it wasn’t done for anyone but Papa to like, but it still makes the siblings shout for joy!

so it is..* yeah, so much of what was going on lyric-wise on 1956, 1957, 1958 was about the new sound. i just recently heard a tape of me & daniel smith giving a talk in portland at tomfest 9 or 10 years ago.. & it started great but i ended up telling everybody to listen to tons of music & see tons of films in order to get past being derivative.

God’s had me refocus everything on purity and yielding to the Holy Ghost. that’s where the real inspiration comes from, yah?>?

Amen. I see more focus where there was once more tangents. Lyrics that were sung back in da day are runnin’ along more of what your singing now. Stuff like, Jesus not religion, but that mean the Body, too. Idunno, that’s just what I’ve seen.

definitely. it’s humbling. you see a need for life & hunger & reality where most of what we’ve seen is stale tradition. then you run at it with everything you’ve got, & end up realizing that the real issue is human solutions for divine purposes. more human solutions don’t really help - even if they happen to be my personal favorites.. i used to think i was immune to dead religion just because i was speaking up about it! now i realize that unless i am consciously following the Holy Spirit’s lead at this very moment, i’m the stick in the mud.

well the goal is to be invisible. you click on soul-junk & you end up at Jesus. all i’m saying is that good intentions alone don’t get you there. only the Spirit can hook that up…and he does as long as there’s real yielded cooperation, thank God.

paul says zeal without knowledge is no good. isaiah says knowledge without zeal is deadly, boring & useless.
and the answer not a balancing act. what it is is…

    knowing only Christ.

that way our faith doesn’t rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. there’s a place to know Christ in the power of his resurrection. & it starts with writing off everything else we could be enamored by or take credit for, so that we might really know Christ.

look at king ahaz. he was in a bad spot with his dead religion. what choices did he have?

glen… homes… i feel ya BIG TIME g. if I am allowed to say it this way, I had a natural reaction to spiritual revelation. and i am referring to the…

“then you run at it with everything you’ve got, & end up realizing that the real issue is human solutions for divine purposes. more human solutions don’t really help”

i hope it is ok for me to describe it like that. but more adjustment took place and more dependence took place. our good intentions cannot setup channels for the Holy Spirit to run thru. you cannot take hold of the wind and tell Him where to blow. He goes where He pleases.

glen you have been much encouragement to me and so has daniel and lenny smith. Lord knows how much you guyz have helped me along with other brothers and sisters. God gets all the glory. and i pray all my brothers and sisters come to the place in which you were speaking…

“knowing only Christ. that way our faith doesn’t rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.”

we come to you not in the wisdom of this world or with persuasive speech. human thought, philosophy, or anything of the flesh. we know nothing but Christ Jesus and Him crucified.

..seems that God is giving a lot of people revelations like yours nowadays. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for the near future. Follow Christ and getting to know him is what matters above everything else. And in countries where people do actually do this, a lot of people gets saved.. :)
